These are exciting times for CMAI.
As a follow up to my visit to Japan, of which I had spoken about in the last Issue, there is a high powered Delegation from Japan coming down to Mumbai on the 16th, 17th, and 18th December, bringing with it nearly 300 Samples representing Japan’s best and newest Textiles and Fabrics – with the objective of showcasing these to Indian |

Importers, Traders, Manufacturers, and Brand Owners. By the time this issue comes to you, the Delegation would have interacted with the top-most Manufacturers and Importers, and I am hopeful of some really constructive feedback and results. |

Source zOne Fair, organised by AEPC, and supported by CMAI and other Garment Associations, in Delhi, which showcased a vast range of Fabrics and Accessories from over 100 Supply Chain Partners, including a whole section from Taiwan concluded successfully. Being the First Edition, it was small, but certainly appreciated by the Industry as a step in the right direction. |

Finally, if all goes well, in the next couple of days we shall be announcing the revival of CMAI’s Spring Summer Fair 2011, after a gap of several years. It shall also mark the coming together of disparate groups of Exhibitors under one umbrella, and believe me, it will be a landmark event. |

CMAI has been deeply involved in the Apparel Industry’s battle with various Lobbies to bring back some sense of sanity and reality to the Cotton and Cotton Yarn Prices, and I am happy to say that at least some relief has been announced in the form of a cap on Cotton Yarn Exports, and we are already seeing the impact in the market prices of Cotton Yarn and Fabrics. |

However, I must caution my friends and colleagues on both sides of the debate, that this is not a long term solution. A lasting solution can only come if all Sectors of the Industry get together and thrash out a solution in the best interests of all concerned. |
