LEGAL METROLOGY (PACKAGED COMMODITIES)  RULES 2011:

A Meeting was convened under the Chairpersonship of Smt Madhulika P Sukul, Addl Secretary, Dept of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt of India, New Delhi, on November 23, 2016, wherein it was decided that the Association would Submit a ‘Standardised Measurement Chart’ for all Product Segments (Sizes ‘S’, ‘M’, ‘L’, ‘XL’, etc. / ‘32’ ‘36’, etc. / 1-2 Years, 2-3 Years, 3-4 Years, etc.) stating the Equivalent Size in Centimetres. Subsequently, a Note on ‘Standard Labelling Requirements for the Domestic Garment Industry’ was Submitted to the Addl Secretary as advised by Smt Aditi Das Rout, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India.

 

SIZE INDIA:

A Meeting under the Chairpersonship of Smt Aditi Das Rout, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, was held on December 23, 2016, in New Delhi, to discuss the ‘Size India’ Proposal Submitted by NIFT under the Research & Development Scheme to the Ministry of Textiles. Mr Sidharth Bindra, Member, Managing Committee, from the Northern Region and Mr Mohan Sadhwani, Executive Director, attended the Meeting on behalf of the Association. Accordingly, the Association has sent its Observations and Suggestions to the Ministry for Consideration.

 

VIBRANT GUJARAT GLOBAL SUMMIT  2017:

Mr Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI, accepted an Invitation to be a Speaker at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 held on January 12, 2017, at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, which was Inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

 

BENGAL GLOBAL BUSINESS SUMMIT  2017:

Mr Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI, accepted an Invitation to be a Speaker at Bengal Global Business Summit 2017 held on January 21, 2017, at Kolkata.

 

NORTH EAST INVESTORS SUMMIT  2017:

Mr Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI, along with Mr J K Arora, Regional Secretary (Northern Region ) attended the North East Investors Summit 2017 Organised by the Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Govt of India, on January 29-30, 2017, at Shillong . The Association has signed two MoUs, viz; Su Sneha Textiles, Tripura and Vakiria Computerised  Embroidery, Mizoram, to facilitate handholding and mentoring by the Association in Technical, Design, Production, Marketing of Apparel and Garment Making Centres at Tripura and Mizoram. The Association has prepared an Implementing Plan which has been forwarded to the Ministry of Textiles. Subsequently the Ministry of Textiles, under the Chairpersonship of Secretary (Textiles) convened a Review Meeting on February 21, 2017. Mr Ankur Gadia, Member, Managing Committee, attended the said Meeting on behalf of the Association.

 

GOODS AND SERVICE TAX (GST):

Mr Manu Chatlani, Member, Managing Committee, along with Mr Sonjoj Mohanty, Senior Advisor, Albright Stonebridge Group, met Shri R V Deshpande, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Govt of Karnataka, on February 17, 2017, and made a Presentation of the Association’s Representation on Proposed GST and Benefit of a Uniform GST Rate for the Garment Industry. A Copy of the said Presentation was also handed over to the Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Govt of Karnataka.

 

MINIMUM WAGES AND SPECIAL ALLOWANCE  PAYABLE TO THE WORKMEN  IN THE READYMADE  GARMENT INDUSTRY (01-01-2017 TO 30-06-2017)

This is to inform all Members in Maharashtra that the Minimum Wages Payable to the Workmen in the Readymade Garment Industry in Maharashtra, are as under:
