18 PER CENT GST ON JOB WORKERS OF READYMADE GARMENTS

The Association has once again taken up the matter with the Ministry of Textiles urging them to take up the matter with the Ministry of Finance pertaining to Levy of 18 per cent GST on Job Work of Readymade Garments.
We are glad to inform you that the GST Rate applicable on Job Work of Readymade Garments has been reduced from 18 per cent to five per cent at the GST Council Meeting held on August 05, 2017.

 

RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTIONS

The Association has sent its View to the Ministry of Textiles on July 17, 2017 on the Rajya Sabha Starred Question for Answer on July 21, 2017 as requested by the Ministry regarding Increase in Exports of Textiles and Garments in the last Three Years along with a Short Note for the Note for Pad to be given to the Honourable Minister of Textiles by the Ministry of Textiles.

 

LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION

The Association has sent its view to the Ministry of Textiles on July 24, 2017 on the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question for Answer on July 27, 2017 as requested by the Ministry regarding Data on Production and Consumption of Clothes (Garments).

 

STATUS UPDATE WITH RESPECT TO MOU BETWEEN CMAI & MEXA.

As requested by the Ministry of Textiles, we have Submitted the Status Update as on July 31, 2017 to the Ministry with respect to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signed between CMAI & Mauritius Exporters Association (MEXA).

Cir No. G2-/11/2017 sent to all Members in Mumbai by e-mail informing that a Leading GST Consultant, Mr Tarak Gor, will be available in the Dadar Office of the Association on Saturday July 22, 2017 between 4 PM and 6 PM to get their GST related Queries solved by him and also requested Members to send their queries in advance by e-mail to Dadar Office e-mail address.

Cir No. G2-/12/2017 sent to all Members of the Association by e-mail sending therewith the HSN Codes for Chapter 61 to 63 for their Ready Reference and also Uploaded in the Associations Website www.cmai.in.

Cir No. G2-/13/2017 sent by e-mail to all Members in Mumbai and Maharashtra enclosing therewith a Trade Note No. 01/2017 dated June 30, 2017 issued by the Office of The Principal Commissioner of Central Tax & Central Excise, Mumbai with regard to Taxpayer Service Centre in Mumbai which is envisaged as a Single Window system in the Commissionerate for accepting/handling all the tax payer’s queries, complaints, grievances etc. The said Circular has also Uploaded in the Website of the Association www.cmai.in.

Cir No. G2-/14/2017 sent to all Members of the Association by e-mail enclosing therewith a Circular No. 2/2/2017 – GST dated July 04, 2017 issued by Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Excise and Customs, GST Policy wings, New Delhi with regard to Issues related to furnishing of Bond/Letter if Undertaking for Exports. The same has been Uploaded in the Website of the Association www.cmai.in.

Cir No. 65th NGF/15/2017 sent by e-mail to all Exhibitors at the 65th National Garment Fair held in July 2017, informing that the Association will be issuing GST Tax Invoice instead of Service Tax Invoice to enable them to take full set off of 18 per cent GST. The Association also provided the Statement of Additional Participation Charges to be paid by the Exhibitors to the Association alongwith GST Number to enable the Association issue the GST Tax Invoice.
