67TH NATIONAL GARMENT FAIR
We are glad to inform you that the Association has received an Overwhelming Response towards Participation in the 67th National Garment Fair, to be held altogether for Four Days, i.e., 16th, 17th, 18th & 19th July 2018 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Complex, Goregaon (East), Mumbai - 400063.
The 67th National Garment Fair, India’s Largest Apparel Trade Show, will be spread across a Gross Area of Approx. 6,50,000 Sq Ft. 918 Exhibitors showcasing 1138 Brands will present their Latest Festive Collections at the Four Day Fair. Approx. 50,000 Retailers are expected to Visit the 67th National Garment Fair.
The Draw of Lots Function for Allotment of Stalls will be held on Friday, 15th June 2018 at the Textile Committee Auditorium, Prabhadevi, Mumbai - 400 025.
The Association has started accepting Bookings for the ‘Show Directory’, popularly known as the Fair Guide. The Last Date for accepting Bookings for the Show Directory is Friday, 15th June 2018 Subject to Availability of Space. The Last Date for Accepting the Directory Printing Material is Friday, 22nd June 2018.
61ST INDIA INTERNATIONAL GARMENT FAIR
The 61st India International Garment Fair (IIGF) Spring/Summer 2019 Collection will be held from 16th to 18th July 2018 in Halls 9, 10 & 11 at India Exposition Mart Ltd, Greater Noida (UP).
The Association has so far received 59 Participants admeasuring an Area of 1065 Sq Mtrs.

FREE EYE CHECK UP CAMPS AT ASMEETA TEXPA, BHIWANDI
The Association Organised ‘Free Eye Check Up Camps’ for the Workmen of the Garment Industry on 25th & 26th May 2018 and 8th & 9th June 2018 at Asmeeta Texpa, Kalyan Bhiwandi Industrial Area, Village Kon, Bhiwandi, Thane – 421311.
The Eye Check-Up Camp was Inaugurated on 25th May 2018 jointly by the Members of CSR Sub Committee of the Association.
The Eye Check-Up Camps were Conducted by Vision Foundation of India with a Team of Two Doctors and Two Optometrists who examined a Total of 1482 Workmen working at Asmeeta Texpa. Reading Glasses were Distributed Free of Cost to 411 Workmen on the spot and Prescriptions were given to 557 Workmen for Bifocal Glasses which will be provided to them, Free of Cost, by the Association.
MEETING WITH HON’BLE FINANCE MINISTER & HON’BLE MINISTER OF TEXTILES AT NEW DELHI
Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India, convened a Meeting of Chairmen of Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and Industry Associations with the Hon’ble Finance Minister and Hon’ble Minister of Textiles on 27th May 2018 at North Block, New Delhi to Discuss Issues pertaining to the Textile Sector.
Mr Rakesh Biyani, Vice President attended the said Meeting on behalf of the Association.
REQUEST FOR PROVIDING LEVEL PLAYING FIELD TO INDIAN APPAREL INDUSTRY IN THE DOMESTIC SECTOR
The Association has made a Representation to Smt Smriti Irani, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India, on 25th May 2018, requesting the Ministry of Textiles to provide a Level Playing Field to the Garment Manufacturers in the Domestic Sector post the Introduction of GST Tax Regime in India. The Association has recommended an urgent need to Impose safeguard measures such as Rules of Origin, Yarn Forward and Fabric Forward Rules to prevent Cheaper Fabrics produced from Countries like China routed through these Countries into India and demand access for Indian Garments in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Duty Rates as applicable to their Garments in India.

The good news first! Exports continue to show a turnaround which started in the third quarter of 2018, and March showed a healthy 15% growth over last year. Of course, we still ended up the fiscal 2018-19 with a negative growth of a little over 3%; the last 4-5 months’ performance indicates a more positive future. With the combined MEIS and RoSCTL now in place, I think we can look forward to a return to a growth period after several years.
